  • Essential Skills Workshops

    Training

    Durham College’s Essential Skills Workshops are flexible, personalized and supportive programs that help learners prepare to meet the needs and challenges of future academic and/or employment goals. Funded by the Ministry of Labour, Training, and Skills Development (MLTSD) as part of Employment Ontario’s Literacy and Basic Skills (LBS) program, all programming is designed to align with the Ontario Adult Literacy Curriculum Framework (OALCF) while providing learning opportunities that are task-based and applicable to real-world situations. All programming is completely free of charge for learners, and are also now available for distance learning through Durham College’s online learning platform!   • Introduction to Business Analytics

    Training

    This microcredential introduces data analytics as a business discipline and refreshes fundamental statistical techniques, before enabling you to complete exploratory data analysis on structured and unstructured data sets utilizing spreadsheet tools such as Microsoft Excel and SQL. Learners will also be introduced to databases including SQL to manage multiple complex data sets. The associated deliverables will introduce diagnostic analytics and develop more advanced Excel skills as a key digital literacy in the modern economy. – Complete the course material at your own pace, and submit the final assessment for evaluation when ready to earn your badge! – The course consists of 6 modules – Learners are encouraged to spend approx. 8-10 hours per module over six weeks – Learners must complete one assessment at the end of module six to be successful *This microcredential is self-paced that can be started and completed anytime.

  • Salesforce CRM Fundamentals

    Training

    The Salesforce CRM Fundamentals microcredential is intended for current and future CRM professionals, and those who want to maximize their use of the Salesforce platform, and prepare to pass the Salesforce Administrator certification exam. The course introduces the fundamentals of CRM platforms and the Salesforce ecosystem before working through case studies and practical challenges so you can learn and apply best-practice administrator skills. These skills range from setting up an organization and users to leveraging Salesforce applications, automating processes, and producing best-practice reporting dashboards. Learners also work through topics that are aligned with the Salesforce Administrator certification exam. – Complete the course material at your own pace, and submit the final assessment for evaluation when ready to earn your badge! – The course consists of 6 modules – Learners must complete one assessment at the end of module six to be successful – You will complete a series of technical projects in the Salesforce Trailhead Playground environment – The course is built to support project-based learning, giving learners the ability to demonstrate real work completion which validates their skills and knowledge *This microcredential is self-paced and can be started and completed anytime.

  • Software Development Fundamentals

    Software development dominates growth in many organizations, as developers look to serve internal customers (teams) who are increasingly reliant on applications to augment, integrate and improve business functions, as well as external clients who will consume applications and require meaningful updates and future product developments or features. This course is an introductory course to the world of software development, giving learners the confidence to understand and participate in development conversations and teams. – Complete the course material at your own pace, and submit the final assessment for evaluation when ready to earn your badge! – The course consists of 6 modules – Learners are encouraged to spend approx. 8-10 hours per module over six weeks – Learners will develop foundations to enter digital technology career paths or complement their existing professional skill sets – Learners will receive an introduction to Agile project management methodologies, and commonly used development languages such as HTML and CSS – Learners will design and develop a prototype for an online application *This microcredential is self-paced that can be started and completed anytime.

  • Academic Upgrading

    Training

    Welcome to Academic Upgrading – a free service to assist students 19+ years of age who are looking to complete their high school equivalency credits in Gr.12 English and Gr.12 Math, improve their grades in order to enter a college program, and increase their literacy and numeracy skills. This program is funded by the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development. Tuition free-program. Financial support for daycare and/or transportation is also available for qualified learners. Qualify for an offer of admission to a college program. Improve your literacy and numeracy skills for employment, apprenticeship or other goals. A supportive adult learning environment with qualified professors. Robust and Interactive Instruction.
